It’s a question that seems to crop up whenever you try to explain your November-long obsession to a non-writer. After all, why else would you absolutely kill yourself trying to write 50,000 words in a month? Who would do that for anything but a truly momentous reward?
“Why, there’s plenty of reward!”, as you have so often assured your friends and family.
After all, you get:
- 50,000+ words of a novel, of course
- the satisfaction and self-confidence that comes with having set an immense challenge for yourself and stuck to it
- bragging rights
And you know what else?
This year, NaNoWriMo winners are automatically entitled to 10% off the cost of admission to DFWcon 2014!
True story! That’s an extra $35 you have to spend on coffee, kleenex, and Advil to get you through November!
Please note: this $35 discount still applies if you take advantage of early registration, and can be retroactively applied if you have already signed up for the conference, but does not stack with the DFWWW workshop member discount. We expect workshop members to crank out 50k a month as a matter of course
So how will you claim your prize?
All you have to do is submit a screenshot of your official NaNo winner’s notification, along with your NaNo user name, to firstname.lastname@example.org by December 14th. (That gives you two whole weeks to recover from sleep deprivation and alcohol poisoning after your victory!)
So sharpen those metaphorical pencils and clear your desk, WriMos… it’s going to be a heck of a ride!
